What's New on Amazon Prime Video in March 2021

The television adaptation of horror comic The Walking Dead is expected to come to a close in 2022 at the end of its 11th season—an impressive stretch that has nothing on the comic’s 17-year, 193-issue run. But throughout much of that time, franchise creator Robert Kirkman was plugging away at another lengthy graphic saga, Invincible, about a young superhero discovering his destiny. It ended in 2018 after 15 years and 144 issues—and it too is now coming to TV, via an animated series on Prime Video debuting in March.

Like The Walking Dead, Invincible (March 26) is very much an adult property, despite its young protagonist—the blood-soaked trailer above makes that much clear. Mark Grayson grows up the son of Earth’s most powerful hero, Omni-Man, awaiting the day when he develops his own powers—but no sooner does it finally happen than he discovers the existence of an intergalactic conspiracy bigger than the one in Watchmen, complex enough to extend across however many seasons of the show Amazon chooses to make.

This month, Prime Video also debuts the sequel to the ‘80s Eddie Murphy hit Coming to America. Originally planned for a theatrical release, Paramount sold the long-awaited sequel to Amazon amid the pandemic. Coming 2 America (March 5) picks up with the now-King Akeem Joffer, ruler of the fictional nation of Zamunda, who returns to the states in search of the child he improbably fathered offscreen during the first movie.

Here’s everything coming to the service in March. Amazon has yet to release a list of the films leaving Prime Video that month (if any), so we’ll update this post once that information is available.
