Unlock Hidden Video and Image Tools with This URL Trick

Want to quickly edit an image and upload it to Imgur, or download a video and save it as an MP3 file? This URL trick unlocks tools to do these and other tricks with online images, YouTube videos, and Reddit URLs.

All you have to do is add "deturl.com/" in front of the URL (and hit enter). For YouTube videos, it gives you download options, ways to bypass age or country restrictions, and conversion tools at Deturl.com. For images, it lets you apply online image utilities from ImgOps.com. And for Reddit URLs, it performs a reverse image search on Reddit via KarmaDecay.com. But you only have to remember "deturl.com/" for all of these. (In that way, it's not so much a URL trick as it is visiting a useful online service—but you get the idea.)

Reddit user metabeing, who posted this trick, offers a few examples and bonus advice:

Examples:

http://DETURL.COM/www.youtube.co…

Download the video, convert to MP3, use a proxy, and more.

http://DETURL.COM/www.reddit.com…

Redirects to KarmaDecay.com to search by image for similar posts on Reddit.

Redirects to to ImgOps.com to edit that image, or copy to Imgur, see EXIF data, search Google, optimize, convert to ascii, and a lot more.

Bonus advice:

Mental trick to remember the URL: deturl = detail + url.

You don't need to insert "deturl.com" between

http://

and the domain. You can insert it all the way in front ... That will work in your browser even though it doesn't link properly in Reddit.

For Reddit and images, the

bookmarklet

works the same as the URL hack, but for YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and many adult sites, it provides a direct download link without using any 3rd party service. Personally, I love bookmarklets, and I really think this is the best way to download.

The "pwn" URL hack (see image on deturl) doesn't work for HTTP

S

. If you have trouble using it, check that.

Imgur removes EXIF data.

Here is an example with EXIF
