To-do this weekend: your taxes online

The TurboTax for the web early bird discount ends on Sunday. If you don't qualify for free federal filing and you're planning on using TurboTax online (the Basic package), this weekend's the time to do it. (Remember, you can use TurboTax as a second opinion for the best tax deal.)

Take heed, though: Lifehacker reader Dave writes in, "TurboTax has a hidden cost for direct deposit. $20 sounds like a decent deal for the basic service but they tag on an additional $20 for their bank in Santa Barbara to direct deposit. I found out the hard way. Lesson learned."

Update: Reader Jefferson writes in, "The $20 fee is not charged for direct deposit, it is charged if you want to pay for TurboTax directly out of your refund."
