Web developer and blogger Garrett Dimon has created a really great page full of resources for freelancers. Much of it is geared toward Web professionals, but there is quite a bit of baseline information that any free agent can take advantage of.

Hopefully being aware of these often overlooked matters, and some mistakes I made personally, can help you create a more successful plan before you take the plunge.
