Make a Week's Worth of Steel-Cut Oatmeal in 5 Minutes

Unless you're the world's biggest early bird, steel-cut oatmeal can be a difficult breakfast to enjoy in the morning. If you prepare it from scratch, it can take up to 45 minutes. But this quick and easy overnight method means you can enjoy healthy steel-cut oatmeal for the whole week with just five minutes of prep.

Faith Durand of The Kitchn shares her discovery:

Basically, you combine oats and water, bring them to a boil, then cover, and turn off the heat. Leave overnight and in the morning simply warm them up. They'll be perfectly cooked — tender, chewy, and creamy.

Do this at the beginning of each week, dividing a big batch between jars, then refrigerating after the jars have cooled. That way, you've taken care of a week's worth of breakfast. The oatmeal jars taste great chilled, so you can eat them as-is in the morning with a splash of milk and your desired toppings, or warm them to your desired temperature. You can even bring jars to work and pop them in the microwave. Get the recipe below.
