Freecycle is a collection of local email lists on which members offer and ask for stuff for free.
So if you've got a chair that doesn't fit into your new apartment, offer it up to your local Freecycle group. Or, take up someone else's offer of a chair. It's up to giver and taker to arrange pickup of items, but everything's free. Boo on throw out and buy new! Yay for cooperative recycling and neighbor gift-giving!
