Font managment for OS X is kind of tricky. It's kind of an inside joke that Suitcase is a bit hard to grasp, FontBook is buggy at best and, well, there isn't really much else out there.
Until now. Linotype's FontExplorer X looks like it's the font management tool we've been waiting for.
Font management has never been so simple, and font sorting, font shopping and font discovery are now more fun than ever. FontExplorer X gives computer users all the font functions they could need, and lets them decide how deeply they wish to dive into various font themes.
It's fairly easy to set up, which was the first surprise, simple to use and it's free. You may be wondering why a great application like this would be free. Well, they've added an iTunes like font store around into application. It's actually not only cool, it's handy.
But that's just the start of things. It's got a great search feature, a clean, easy to understand interface, a way to resolve potential conflicts (like those you may encounter with Suitcase) and easy creation of font sets. It's really worth checking out.
